I'm curious does any one really use the Object Media player that skinners supply with their DXthemes. I run Vista and it seems like more and more of the components of the player have stopped working. Along with a few other things that doesn't work such as the system tray. Hopefully stardock will fix the system tray but they haven't really done any thing with the Object Media player and I doubt they will.

So should a skinner take the time and effort to include it in their themes?

I'm liking the Xion player more and more. At first I was kinda at a loss as how to do some of the things I wanted to do. Then I found I could Download some psd files from the site and that was a lot of help. So It's Xion player for me from now on..

The only thing I don't like about Xion is that it is a seperate app from my themes, rather than an integral part of. I am excited about skinning it though. I will still include a DX player in my themes. And skin Xion too.

Go to this page http://xion.r2.com.au/index.php?page=tut1 At the bottom you will see where it says to download a PSD of the tutorial. There is a total of 5 files you can download one on each tutorial page but The last three are the ones that really help because you can see how they make up the sets and the keywords.

When/if stardock updates the DXplayer I will start making the DXplayer again. The thing is if any one does use the DXplayer they have to have either/or ObjectMedia,WinAmp or WMP installed. With the Xion player they just have to download the free Xion player and they have a more featured player then the DXplayer. Plus I don't think there are that many that use the DXplayer.

Hey guys, don't forget that the .XSF files that you download from here are just renamed .zip files. name them back to .zip and you can get the .psd out of the zip file and throw it into photoshop to take a look at it. If you want to figure out animations, just grab one of my animated skins and take a look at it using the method above.

Have Fun!!

I use the DX player for streaming radio on a daily basis. It works and the sound quality is fair, but I agree it needs updating. Too bad ThemeManager won't load apps of your choice, like Xion or Winamp.( As a matter of fact,it won't even load WindowBlinds for me)

It seems that Xion won't play video....hmmmm. And it comes with a bunch of "stations" but I can't access them.WTF?
